About Us
Coles Moulding and Woodworking Ltd., formerly Coles Door Systems
Ltd., located in North Milton, Prince Edward Island, are
manufacturers of wooden components for overhead doors, interior
mouldings, custom wood products, and furniture components. The sale
of the overhead door division in 2011, allowed the Company to focus
on woodworking.
The Company opened in 1976 with the sale and
installation of overhead doors purchased from other manufacturers.
The Company expanded and developed a line of insulated and
non-insulated overhead doors for both the commercial and residential
market. This expansion also included wood items for the construction
and renovation market, such as cabinets and counter tops. Gradually,
the overhead door market changed from a preference of the wood door
to the current steel and aluminium door due to reduced cost and
improved quality.
This change resulted in a surplus of
manufacturing capacity and the need for new products. In 1992,
several new product opportunities were identified: moulded wood
products, overhead door wood components, and speciality wood
products for the construction industry. One of the first mouldings
manufactured was the very popular MacDonald Casing. It was named
after the company from whom the first moulder was purchased. The
Milton Header was named after the community in which the Company is
based.
The Company's manufacturing facilities, equipped with
modern wood working equipment, are operated by experienced
conscientious staff resulting in quality products for their
customers. Coles also have the benefit of their own wood drying
kiln. An arch moulder has allowed the Company to produce mouldings
for arched windows.
Coles Moulding and Woodworking Ltd. has
continued to expand and diversify their product line based on market
and consumer demand. Today, the Company manufactures a wide variety
of building products including: door components; interior mouldings
such as jamb, casing, base, crown, header, and door sills; custom
mouldings; log siding; and wainscoting. Coles also produce
edge-glued panels and stair treads in various species of wood.
